Oto opinia pewnego człowieka z diyaudio nt. róznic pomiędzy chipami LM i TDA:
Hmm...LM or TDA ?
It\'s hard to say why I like TDA more. I was playing a lot with LM3875, LM1875, TDA2050 and TDA2030 (not to mention OPA549).
One of my friend has single ended tube amp (small amp with 4W output) which I like a lot but I don\'t want to mess with tubes-
such amp would cost me about 30 to 35 times more then chip amp.
First of all, I like chips because they sound good and they are easy to build. My first chip amp was LM3875 which send my Zen amp to permanent
rest. This was something incredible, especialy when I removed the input cap and replaced cheap bridges with MUR860 diodes.
Next was LM1875 - for my ears this was improvement - more details, deeper bass, more organic and live sound; better soundstage. Hard to explain.
But after longer period it started to irritate me - it has somehow agressive and thin hights; like there is a hole in upper mid region.
Then I\'ve tried TDA2030 - very good sound, but the catch was output offset voltage which I couldn\'t lower below 80mV. I have tried the cap
to ground - offset has gone and with the offset also all the magic.
Tha last is TDA2050 which is similar sounding (I could say it has the same sound) but with no problem with the offset voltage (in the same range as LM chips).
TDA chips remainds me to my friends tube amp. They have more organic and full sound, better sound stage, deeper bass (but not overblown)
and they don\'t irritate me with the top end. I can hear all the details and relax with the music. I still have LM3875 and LM1875 and sometimes I switch them on, but after a while
I always return to TDA2050.
The funny thing is that my other friend (he has 300B single ended tube amp) has also build LM3875 amp and said to me that LM3875 sounds fine except the hights was hard to listen.
All of my amps are made with regular parts except diodes in PS and a little better potentiometer at the input. I have Alps blue but I prefere Rohs Alphastat from Conrad.
I have full range loudspeakers with helper tweeter which are easy to drive, so I don\'t need a lot of power. My TDA2050 works excelent with 2x12V/1.5amp trafo with one
bridge of SB560 diodes.
Some members of the forum says, that the chipamp can only sound good with BlackGate caps and exsotic resistors but I never tried them.
If you can afford buy all three chips and try for yourself (the chips are not expensive) - LM1875, TDA2050 and TDA2030 have the same pinouts so you can easily swap them
and listen to differences. You don\'t have the same loudspeakers and source so you might prefere LM over TDA.
